Aporia comes from the Greek ἀπορία, meaning puzzlement, difficulty, or uncertainty. Each ring begins as a kind of puzzle—the relationship between stone and framework is not always immediately resolved. Sometimes the stone dictates the structure; sometimes the structure determines the stone. The process is one of finding a way forward.
